If you have ANY issues with Medicaid:

  1. Always call your case manager first.  We know they are not trained well, have different knowledge bases and different levels of ability to help you but you need to check this off your list.  You can always ask for the regional supervisors number and contact them as well.

  2. Iowa Medicaid Enterprise (IME) has directed Medicaid members who were experiencing coverage gaps in care to email them at  They would need the following information - full name, current address with city/state, Medicaid ID and a summary of their needs.

  3. Email or call your local legislators (

  4. Contact the Managed Care Ombudsman's office (866) 236-1430

  5. Contact Disability Rights of Iowa

  6. Email or call your federal legislators (

  7. File an ADA complaint with Department of Justice - Civil Rights Complaint - violations of the ADA and Olmstead decision. (

Grants Available Through Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council

The Iowa Developmental Disabilities Council is offering to fund time-limited projects to assist in filling gaps in services and supports that people with developmental disabilities and families are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Iowa DD Council Covid-19 Relief Fund will fund grants up to $1,000. They are taking applications until July 1, 2020. You can find more information HERE.
